Operational forecasting system for Arctic Ocean using the Russian marine circulation model INMOM-Arctic

چکیده

A regional σ-model INMOM-Arctic has been prepared on the basis of Russian ocean general circulation model INMOM (Institute Numerical Mathematics Ocean Model) to reproduce current state and short-term forecast Arctic (AO) hydrothermodynamics. The is implemented in a rotated spherical coordinate system with poles located at 60°E 120° W geographic equator, which makes it possible use quasi-uniform resolution ~ 3,7 km Basin. Data temperature, salinity, horizontal velocity components sea level taken from CMEMS products are used AO open boundaries. To take into account tidal effect boundaries, time series set based data TPXO 9 atlas (TOPEX/Poseidon Global Tidal spatial 1/30°. calculate atmospheric impact, researches Era 5 global reanalysis 0,25×0,25° temporal 1 hour.

Arctic Ocean Circulation Patterns Revealed by GRACE

Measurements of ocean bottom pressure (OBP) anomalies from the satellitemissionGravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE), complemented by information from two ocean models, are used to investigate the variations and distribution of the Arctic Ocean mass from 2002 through 2011. The forcing and dynamics associated with the observed OBP changes are explored. Major findings are the identifica...

Arctic Ocean circulation in an idealized numerical model

The mid-to-deep Arctic Ocean is generally characterized by a cyclonic circulation, contained along shelves and ridges. Here we analyze the general Arctic circulation using an idealized numerical model consisting of a circular basin with two channels acting as inflow and outflow. We analyze the circulation (direction, strength and sensitivity) for wind forcing with and without bathymetry (ridges...

Arctic pathways of Pacific Water: Arctic Ocean Model Intercomparison experiments

Pacific Water (PW) enters the Arctic Ocean through Bering Strait and brings in heat, fresh water, and nutrients from the northern Bering Sea. The circulation of PW in the central Arctic Ocean is only partially understood due to the lack of observations. In this paper, pathways of PW are investigated using simulations with six state-of-the art regional and global Ocean General Circulation Models...

ARCTIC OCEAN DIVERSITY SYNTHESIS Biodiversity and phylogeography of Arctic marine fauna: insights from molecular tools

The last decade has seen an increase in the frequency and breadth of application of molecular tools, many of which are beginning to shed light on long-standing questions in biogeography and evolutionary history of marine fauna. We explore new developments with respect to Arctic marine invertebrates, focusing on molecular taxonomy and phylogeography—two areas that have seen the most progress in ...
